ABOUT NAPPY CHEF

Owned and operated by Rojshawn Dontae, also known as Nappy Chef, The Nappy Chef is a culinary venture that blends Southern flavors with international influences. In 2017, Nappy purchased his first food truck, marking a significant step in his culinary journey. The following year, in 2018, he proudly opened his first restaurant, establishing himself in the culinary world.  Nappy's culinary journey began at the age of 13 in the Atlanta area, where he discovered his passion for culinary arts. At 28, he had the privilege of apprenticing under world-class Chef John Makin, further elevating his cooking prowess.  Inspired by the wisdom and techniques passed down from his grandmother, Nappy skillfully marries traditional Southern cooking with Italian methods and global flavors. His mission is to create delicious meals crafted from simple, fresh, and honest ingredients. Every dish is made from scratch, showcasing a seamless blend of Southern gourmet and fine cuisine. Since launching his personal chef catering service in 2014, Nappy quickly gained recognition as a Celebrity Chef. He has had the honor of cooking for numerous celebrities, including Kirk Cameron, Keke Palmer, Lil' Kim, Floyd Mayweather, Nas, and many more. In 2021, The Nappy Chef was awarded best restaurant in the city of Charlotte, followed by the accolade of best wings in the city in 2022. Nappy has also been featured on "Love and Hip Hop NY" and has appeared on the news 10 times, including segments on Spectrum, Fox 46 Charlotte, and NBC Charlotte, to name a few. Relocating to Tampa, Florida, in 2023, Nappy currently travels part-time as a chef for the LPGA Tour, sharing his culinary expertise on the road.
